What has been the highlight of your residency thus far?
The Cleveland Clinic provides an incredible training environment. One highlight every year is our inpatient hospital consult month. The diversity and complexity of our patient population provides a wealth of learning opportunities, and I find myself ending each consult month with an even greater appreciation for this specialty.
What do you predict will be the biggest change in the industry 10 years from now?
The dermatology pharmaceutical industry is now shaped by what seems like a constant series of consolidations and acquisitions. This, coupled with an ever-shifting health care landscape and a public sphere that covers fewer and fewer of dermatologists’ recommendations, creates a challenging environment for dermatology products to move from research and development to within consumers' reach. I think this presents an opportunity for dermatologists to further engage industry. In ten years, I predict more dermatologists will be serving as translational conduits to connect industry with consumers.
